A Parable of Peppers

Chapter Seven

Tall Cover No Text_edited.jpg

The Black Lives Matter walkathon had been Zlottie’s idea. Carol Anne was immediately all in, so that meant so was Grendel, and that meant me and Abe were roped as well. Jessie’s parents had other commitments, but I have to wonder about them. They didn’t know me. They didn’t know my Carol Anne. They couldn’t have known Zlottie very well either since none of us really did. Even Able didn't, though he’d confided they were already considering whether they might ask Gredible if she could move in for a while.

But Jesse’s parents? I mean who'd entrust their only child to someone like Avram Ider even for a short round of miniature golf, never mind his dizzyingly fast drives into the city hub for a march that could turn violent for all anyone knew?
