I’ll never stop saying that Abe always did the best he possibly could.

Now on this particular day in the city, little Gretzie was still quite spritely on her mean little feets. Poor plump Jesse though was clearly fading so the extra steps would be quite a penance. But with my bad knees groaning over my sore feet, I was the one true victim there, even though Abey would probably suffer the most, what with already dragging his weight around, and him literally limping through the whole long and winding march through Bostontown.

He really did do his best, you know.
