They bought wax paper and crayons. They bought coat trees and rain coats. They bought rabbits’ feet and cigar boxes of dried up recipes. They bought bundles of barbed wire, packages of paraffin, and jam jars of rat poison. But they didn't buy the sewing machine. And they didn't buy the paintings. “Oh dear! Oh dear! What should we do? We CAN’T throw them on the fire!” Mr. Fixit rubbed his whiskers. Ms. Spinster put her hands on her hips. "Hazel and Walter! You have the solution to all our problems!”
